This post demonstrates the use of Prompt Management and Prompt Flow tools available as a preview in Amazon Bedrock. The Prompt Management tool provides an easy way to create, test, manage and deploy prompts for generative AI applications. The Prompt Flow tool provides a visual, drag and drop interface to build out prompt chains, iterate quickly and deploy the flow for applications. These tools are currently in preview, so we will explore some of the features currently offered with the understanding that the service is subject to change.
Importance of a prompt management tool in generative AI application development
The prompt development lifecycle for a generative AI application involves crafting the prompt for the choice of foundation model, testing the prompt for desired output, configuring the hyperparameters, evaluating the responses, iterating on the prompt and deploying the prompt as part of an application. A prompt management tool can streamline this lifecycle by letting application developers create and maintain different versions of the prompt, build a registry of tested prompts that adhere to good practices and decouple the prompts from the application code base.
